A refreshing absence of angry politics

As a new member, I must congratulate the other members here (and the moderators) for maintaining an off-topic area that is miraculously and refreshingly free of the angry and often scary political rantings (from both sides of the aisle) you see on most other 'open' forums of these kind, wherever they may be.

Gentility truly resides here. Peace.

The moderators put a heck of a lot of effort into that. And it seems to work. There is generally a nice atmosphere around here, but I think it would be naive to think that things would be the way they are without the mods--human nature does not change just because folks on on B&B--not that I always agree with the mods either!

Well, I'll agree to that! I've already had one of my threads modded out...it was more "suggestive" than political in nature. But the mods were quite polite about it...once I found it that I had been modded.

I am sure he mods will be very patient with any one learning the ropes as to what is okay and what is not around here. I do not think that any mod would intentionally ever mean to be shaming or punishing, or peronal. But I would expect them to be on the ball and insistent.

Think of it as an acculturalization process!

We have a great Mod team here, and they are very proactive.
Even the most argumentative people will tone it down if they know they will be chastised.
Even so, the folks on B&B are some of the best I have dealt with anywhere.

The only thing magical about a 50 post count is that you can sell and trade in the b/s/t.

Assuming, of course, you meet the rest of the requirements. :001_rolle

Thank you! It is something we strive for at all times.

Welcome to the site. :thumbup1:

the biggest problem with some discussions in the barber shop is they turn into name calling brawls...and why have that, we are suppose to be gentlemen. I wish we could have more discussions of this nature, but in about ten posts, some knucklehead has to post "=_ _ _ _ _ sucks" and there goes the intelligence. Then the brawl begins.

I believe in the right to disagree and discuss viewpoints. I for one, am amazed at some of the in depth insight and knowledge that you guys have. Alot of you guys really spend some time and think about your viewpoints and back them up with great resources.

I am always looking for good subjects to chat about, so feel free to pm with your ideas. :thumbup1:

+1 to that brother! I couldn't agree more!

+ another one from me. The members of B&B are Gentlemen (and Gentleladies) and that characteristic more times than not prevails. I believe, even when irritated and frustrated about a topic, B&B members think hard before submitting a post. And if they dont, well, we have an outstanding team of mods to keep us all in check! Proper Respect to all of the mods, JOB WELL DONE :a14:

Edit: P.S. I also appreciate the fact the the mods actively participate in conversation rather than only hovering over our shoulders as "Big Brother."

The political discussions on here seem far more intelligent than what goes on in Congress. I think most of us would simply wish to be left alone to live our lives, something that is becoming increasingly difficult. With the government steadily growing more intrusive, one cannot even take a dump without the greedy fingers of Congress making its presence known.

Fortunately, wet-shaving products are largely unaffected, but how long will that last? Can a government that sees regulating toilet flushes as its business steer clear of razor blades much longer? ;)

Good mix of gentlemen as well as opinions, Great Mods. I have actually had to begin thinking a little adverses simply reacting when I post  Doesn't hurt to much

I would actually love to have lots of intelligent, thoughtful non-vitriolic discussions like we had here on the "public option" economics thread...I found it immensely challenging and enjoyable.
