What's new

A nice Milestone

Well boys, today I am proud to say I achieved my very first DFS. It is very close to BBS but I did miss a few patches( right jawline and under chin) So I will only call it a DFS. I am extremely proud of myself considering just a few days before I got the worst case of razor burn ever. After I allowed myself to recover I took into account all of tips my fellow members have given me. I took my time payed special attention to angle and grain direction and it took my just as long if not a little shorter than if I were just sloppily scraping the razor across my face. I went WTG, XTG, and 45 degree ATG and then ATG. Armed with my Merkur HD, Persona blades, Col. Conk Pure badger brush, Poraso, and my new bottle of Aqua Velva Classic I dominated all facial hair in my path! :001_smile Really Glad I picked up the AS too because today was a warm day and the poraso and the Aqua Velva were especially refreshing. Only bad thing was a cut I got on my neck when I twitched while placing the blade. Oh and NO IRRITATION!!!! I am really glad.

Well Done!!

It just gets better from here. Your shave kit is excellent, BTW.

Thank you kindly. It means a lot coming from a man with your experience. And the best part is that it didn't cost too much to start up and am getting amazing results than I ever did with a cartridge razor.

That's excellent news! Way to go, congrats!

Thanks guys. I appreciate it. I discovered something valuable today. Shaving IS fun! Also technique is 90% of the equation. I really like this comment.

Actually I think it's something more like 70% preparation, 20% technique, 9% razor and blade, and 1% luck needed for that absolutely prefect BBS shave. But DFS is very good. Congrats.

haha I guess i went a little over board there. I can agree since without prep the shave probably would have gone a lot worse. Thanks

Congrats! Glad to hear it. Shaving IS fun indeed. So's B&B.

And it beats the hell out of waxing our faces...which would be terrible. Plus, then we'd be on a website called like, "StickandStrip". We'd all be talking about the minty vintage bamboo applicator sticks and the honey-smelling wax we just got. Ohhh, it would be no fun at all. I'm glad we're all shavers here.
