What's new

A decent brush for $5 !

Hello all ,

Was getting my hair cut last week and my Iranian barber chatting away - somehow we got on the subject of shaving . I mentioned I was "old school" and use a straight razor . He then asks "Do you use a brush too ?" , yes I replied . He opens up a drawer and shows me around 10 brushes in their boxes. So I had a look and it was a bristle and badger hair mix , ok looking handle and he wants $5 . Thought why not .

He got them from a chap who was selling shave stuff across the street ages ago . Originally they went for $25 and he got them for $5 ( so he says ....) . Either way a nice brush that lathers up soaps and creams well . A bit scritchy on the face and fairly good backbone too .

Brand is Autruche and this is their website :

I added photos of the Autruche and a Vulfix 404 mix for comparison .

cheers

Scott

for $ 5 is a good brush, the knot seems small and not so full of bristles ....
But with 5$ do not buy either the handle.
I would have bought ... and the aesthetic point of view makes a good impression ...

Certainly worth what you paid for it! If it were mine it would probably be a travel brush. Good (cheap) score!

German brush with an acrylic handle and cool logo of a Sponge Bob Squarepants ostrich?
For $5 I'd buy it in a Dixie minute..............................

Hello lads ,

Finally read your replies and had a laugh. " NY sewer Rat hair " is dead on ...too funny ! Doubt you'd get rich pushing a rat hair brush on the populance ! Broke my elbow back in October and just recently have enough mobility to get back to straights. Was making do with my 89l Edwin Jagger and open comb Muhle 41 DEs in between .
Also have a two year old daughter now , so internet time is sparse.

Hope to pop back on more often !

Cheers,

Scott
