A Cartridge that acts like DE?? (for travel)

OK, I am into DE shaving but my job requires travel and I don't trust the airlines to deliver my bag reliably. So I live in the carry-on world which doesn't allow DE blades onto the plane. Is there a cartridge razor that can deliver a DE type shave? I have a Fusion and hate it but am stuck with it while traveling. One night - no big deal - but three days or more and I'm ready to go postal.

Suggestions???

I've had good luck with an older Atra, but have to pay closer attention to my prep. Also, I have one of the original handles, and because it's fairly light aluminum, I have to be careful with the amount of pressure I use.

Bic "metal"s get some love around here (in a pinch), if you can find them. Otherwise, any single blade disposable is about as close as you' be able to get, I guess.

You might want to consider bringing your (empty) DE and mailing yourself blades at the hotel and/or scouting for DE blades when you get there (walgreens/cvs/rite aid/walmart are pretty reliable tho not fantastic blades. correction, cvs has de blades, they shave poorly, imho).

I do not know of a DE disposable, but from what I read in the razor reveiws the BIC disposable is a pretty good SE razor.

The BIC metal is pretty close to an injector. Not bad in a pinch. I say go postal, literally. Mail a pack of blades ahead to yourself at the hotel. There's always the CVS branded Personnas as well. They're not bad and certainly much better than the mach.

If you can get ur hands on a Trac II handle and twin blades that should be better than a Fusion or Mach 3. If you go to wal-mart get ur-self a Bump Fighter (trac style handle) with some personna blades (twin) nice kit under 10 bucks and as always makesure prep is key.

+1 for the Trac II suggestion. It's my usual travel razor and it shaves very well. The carts are also much cheaper than the Fusions.

I suggest a Bump Fighter Razor. Available from Walmart or CVS:
http://www.cvs.com/CVSApp/catalog/s...97&productId=574897&navAction=jump&navCount=3

The rubberized metal handle has some heft and it uses non-pivoting twin trac blades. Throw away the single edge blades that it comes with and pick up some Gillette Trac II's if you can find them. You don't want the Trac II Plus - if you can avoid them since they have a built in strip of goo. Walmart typically carries a "Twin II" blade made by Persona (American Safety Razor). They're not great but they work:

This is the closest to a DE you're going to get in a TSA carry-on approved razor. Some will argue for injector's but regardless of what you read on the TSA website about "cartridge" razors I assure you your TSA screener will not stand around and argue with you about what constitutes a "cartridge" safety razor. They will just relieve you of your relatively expensive injector blades and send you on your way.

Alternatively, if you know when and where you will be traveling you can mail DE blades to yourself at the hotel. All goes well, the blades are waiting for you at the front desk when you check in. If not, it's a few shaves with the Bump Fighter.

I fly quite a bit for work and use an Atra (purchased from Dridiot) and Wal-Mart Personna replacement blades. This razor along with my Omega Boar and tub of Proraso Soap works just fine. In fact I use this set up when I am short on time in the mornings.

My cartridge of choice was a 2 blade Sensor Excel. While waiting for my first DE, I used it with a brush and Proraso and got a couple of great shaves. Haven't used it since I got a DE, but I keep it around just in case. I couldn't find the Bump Fighter at the Walmart near me.

Thanks for the info everyone...I'll try to score some of the Bic Metal and see how it goes. Mailing ahead is a great suggestion if I'm in one place for a period of time and there are occasions that may work, but I typically am on the go with multiple destinations which is not impossible but just a bit more hassle. The Track II looks promising as well and may give it a shot.

What a place!
