I posted a little while ago about my intention to get a Fat Boy and some eBay frustrations. Out of the blue I received a PM from a member here offering to lend me his Fat Boy to try before I made a purchase of one myself.
Needless to say this offer blew me away. I wont mention the member yet incase he wants to remain incognito.

Well two razors and some blades for me to try arrived yesterday and I cant wait to give the Fat Boy a try today. Will be posting a review.

What a great place this is with fantastic generous members :)

That is a very generous offer, I'm sure you are going to enjoy trying the razor before you buy. It's not the expense of spending $30 on a vintage razor and not liking it, it's the generosity of someone offering to lend you something of theirs, and they really don't know you from Adam. You COULD take off with the razor and never be seen again. Not that you would, but that's the level of trust here, and it's amazing.

Let me tell you, I've been to a lot of forums, and was even a member of one for over a decade. I made some great friends there and found some really generous people, but there is something different and special about this place.

I hadn't been here very long and was in a thread about vintage Gillette razors. I mentioned something about wanting to try one but not knowing where to start and the best place to get one. Well, about an hour later I got a PM from a member who said he had a 65 superspeed that he was interested in trading if I had some software or something. I told him I was new enough to this that I hadn't accumulated much, but I told him what I had. Long story short he offered to just send me the razor and said I could send him some blades in return when I ordered them. When the razor arrived there was also a new tube of C.O. Bigelow, and Arko Shave stick and a few different blades.

Then, in another thread, I was talking about a Slim Adjustable and someone PM'd me and he said he had an extra one that he would sell me for $22 including shipping. The razor is in excellent user grade condition. Then, in the very first PIF I entered, I won a Fat Boy. It's still in the mail from Canada so I'm waiting anxiously for it to arrive.

In short, this is a fantastic place with fantastic people. I've not run into any jerks and very few people who are even a little offputting. No trolls either. This place is well run and full of gentlemen. There is no better word. Gentlemen, of the best sort.

Great story too Jeff_H. It really brings back your faith in people when things like this happen. And you are right, Gentlemen one and all. Couldn't ask for a better bunch :))))))
