53 Aluminum Super Speed Rocket

Just saw this on the Bay (buy it now) and had to wonder what I'm missing. SS's are fairly common around here so that price seems extreme. There was a Rocket on the B/S/T just recently that sold for $90 also. What makes these so much more valuable? I can only guess that they are somehow rare, as I don't think they shave 10X better than a regular SS .

And it doesn't even come with the original case? Wow. I have one of those, with the plastic case. Must be worth a FORTUNE! Haha!

well...

not really a superspeed - it's a British Rocket HD (AKA double ring rocket, 500, etc.) - these are fantastic shavers and highly desired. The all-aluminum version is rather uncommon.

It's not uncommon to see the nickel HD to sell for $50 - $100, depending on condition, presence of a case, etc. The all-aluminum, the aluminum handle, and the gold anodized aluminum Rocket HDs often sell for more, because of scarcity.

Personally, I get great shaves from the aluminim HD, though most folks seem to honor the HD because it's heavy (not the aluminum ones, of course).

For collectors, this price is not out of the range of reason.

I've got 2 of these (recently won on ebay from a seller in the UK .....for substantially less than $130). They are extremely light. I haven't tried shaving with either of them yet though.

If anyone wants to give me $250 for the pair.......
