What's new

$500 Fatboy!

Quote from the seller:

"This is a nice razor, and will economically let you determine if you like the double edge experience, ..."

LOL!

I was at Costco yesterday, and pro glide blades were $45 for 15 or so cartridges. It appears that this seller has adopted Gillette's pricing model.

So if it's really new with all the original paperwork, it should bring some premium. What do you think a collector who really wanted it would pay for it?

That is a classic case of I have this item and if you like it and want it, you will have to pay this price or I will not sell it.

Myself, I would say thank you and move on.

if it really has never been used, then I can understand that price for a collector maybe - who just wants to look at it in the display case - but unless you take it apart and look for crap in the barrel, how would you know for sure - somebody clever could take something "mint" from the shoulders up & make it look new - i'll have to see if he has a return policy of a few days - then at least a trained eye could evaluate.

i won a 'Bay auction a month ago for a FatBoy - $46 - and i couldn't be more pleased - doesn't show any wear, the feet go up & down as they should with crisp clicks of the dial , doors are solid, and the TTO knob closes firmly - i don't think that one would work any better.

As long as folks keep paying ridiculous amounts for Fatboy razors, sellers will keep pushing up the prices. This seller, however, apparently decided to skip a few price increases.

He's also got a black handle silver tip SS for $35! $10 or so for these, even in pristine condition would be a more appropriate price.

Of course thats insane, but are many people with more money than brains.
Look at the Calif Housing market, wife and I sold our trophy home of 23 yrs 6 yrs ago for twice the currant value, why?, because people got in bidding wars, we got alot more than our asking price.
I sold my 2004 SVT cobra last yr for 10K more than it was worth,Why? Because big bux daddys kid had to have it (since tottaled)
More power to the seller I say, thats EBAY.

THIS IS A' NEW 'RAZOR IN IT'S ORIGINAL ''NEVER'' USED

Is he intentionally implying that the razor is old and has been used?

The ad is worded in a curious manner, it states the razor is "a new" just as the paper insert states its " 'a new' kind of razor" next it says it is in a ' never' used casing, what is that?

no returns, only one picture??????? and it misses a lot of detail

I have 40 or more razors in my collection, would not buy one unless I can shave with it, I have several fatboys in mint condition, never paid more than $50 for any of them

never shaved with a casing either,
