What's new

5 minutes after

It seems to be that while shaving I don't think I am getting close enough but 5 minutes after my shaving routine I feel BBS when running my hand around my face. What gives?

Exactly. Hair swells with water while shaving, making it stand out more. It drys and retracts back afterwards.

And if you keep faceturbating like that, you are gonna go blind and grow hair on your palms!

It means you found the perfect combination that works for you. But you're gonna go blind soon, so learn to shave with your eyes closed.

This is also the reason that chasing a BBS without any irritation isn't something to do, more so even for us beginners. While it may feel like there needs to be just one more pass/touchup, once the skin and hair have settled in, that won't be nearly the case. Inexperience will push some of us to try that last pass/touchup, and end up with irritation/burn from too many passes, added with added pressure on the blade trying to get that BBS.

I was wondering this very same thing last night, a couple hours after I shaved...I was thinking, 'how did this get better?' Great info...

Cheers,

Mark

Interesting. It's the opposite for me. Everything is smooth as glass until my face dries, them POP, and a few spots on my chin are scratchy.

I blame the scar in the middle of them. I think the raised scar tissue makes it impossible to get BBS close.

I am going to start giving the razor and myself some trust. I believe I have unneccasarily irritated my skin on occassion when I had already achieved my goal.

I had always assumed this to be the case but never really gave it much thought to verify my hypothesis. I can probably turn my four pass shave into a three or even two pass shave now.

Also, if you use a toner like Witch Hazel, alcohol, or anything of the like they swell up your face a bit making it even smoother.
