3p vs. Prep vs. Proraso Pre/Post Shave

I've been looking all over the last couple days reading about these three different brands and I'm wanting to pull the trigger on one of them but can't decide which. I'm more interested in how these perform as an aftershave even though I will still probably use them as pre-shave. Any advice will help!

I have used 3P and Proraso. I like them both. I have used the Proraso as a post-shave as well and think it functions well in this capacity. I like them both. Hard for me to decide which one I like better. The 3P is thinner than the Proraso but I think they both do a great job at softening the beard for a shave.

I have both 3P and Prep Post cream and they both work great as a Pre & Post cream. The Prep is a much thicker texture yet it still provides a cooling and soothing sensation to my skin . When used as a Pre shave you need to apply just small amounts onto a warm wet face then let it soak into your face and beard for at least 3 minutes. Gently wet your face again then apply your lather. If you apply to much to your face then it leave a build up on your razor that might not rinse off to easy. For Post Shave use, I do the following. Cold water rinse, then apply my alum bar let it dry just a short minute or two then another cold water rinse. I then apply either a small amount of Prep or 3P to a slightly damp face. These creams are not really moisturizers so I let the creams dry on my face (do not rinse off), and follow up with an aftershave balm such as QCS, RazoRock Aftershave Wax, or Saint Charles Aftershave lotion. I am a big fan of the Pre/Post shave creams as they do have some healing properties. Italian Barber is having a good sale on the Proraso Cream at just $10.99 so that might be your best bet as they all do about the same with the only difference being 3P is just a tad thinner and Proraso has 3 different types from one with aloe and tea tree oil, to one with Green Tea and Oats and the last has both Menthol and Eucalyptus.

I used white tub prorasso preshave for the past three months.
Used it up and now I am using 3p.

Both work well but I liked the scent of prorasso better.

When the 3p is used up in a few months I will use Prep.

I started with Proraso (green) back in the day and found it to be excellent as both pre and post shave. However the price was always the thing with me. I moved to Prep middle of last year as the 250gr (not ml) tub was more cost effective. Prep is a thinner type cream and smells more medicinal. In fact on the box it pushes the other uses, such as an after sun, skin moisturizer etc, etc. A very nice cream indeed. A little goes a long way. Again though cost is the main thing. To this end I've recently purchased a hugh tub (340gr) of Lucky Tiger Vanishing cream, which apart from the colour and a slightly stronger menthol smell is the same as the Prep cream. My fvorite though is and has been since getting hold of a 500ml tub is Vitos post and pre shave cream. Well worth the price tag. YMMV. I use the Vitos to pre and post shave and the prep as a skin cream befor bed.

I've not tried 3P, but I can say that the scent of Proraso is far better than that of Prep.

Prep seems to play havoc with some shaving creams, the combination of the two creating a rather unpleasant odour.
It seems to work very well, but when Proraso works at least as effectively, provides better cooling and has a nicer scent, I won't be buying another tube of Prep.

Is the proraso white preshave mentholated?

A few months ago, I bought a small glass jar of Proraso white and a 100 gm jar of 3P. I have been rotating them every other day. I used them for pre shave, pre and post, and post shave; on my face and my head.

Scent wise, 3P is just a bit more mentholated than Proraso white. 3P has more medicine-like smell. The scent of both creams dissipates very quickly.

If you like cooling menthol sensation, you will likely be disappointed with both creams. When applied to dry skin, neither have much effect. On wet skin, cooling is mild at best. More with proraso.

In my experience, both creams are descent pre-shaving treatment. Proraso needs to stay on my skin a bit longer to work. Both creams are excellent aftershave products. They provide at least 8 hours of smooth moisturized skin.

Proraso is significantly thicker than 3P. Proraso has aconsistency of Greek yogurt. 3P is noticeably thinner with consistency of warm sourcream. Therefore, it is much easier to apply 3P.

Finally, they have very different ingredients. 3P has every single paraben under the sun. Proraso is paraben free.
