26mm Finest set in natural bone handle

Here is my latest reknot project. The bone handle is a real Beaut with nice natural patterns. The original knot was super floppy and sparse, when you squeezed the knot there was a few mm of space between the knot and the handle on each side! Not for me, so I steamed it out and opened up the handle a bit(which was a real PIA this time around) and popped in a 26mm finest from TGN. I set the loft by feel, as the knot has a great amount of backbone and I didn't want it to be too stiff. Its probably a 50mm loft and the knot at the opening looks to be about 28mm; its in there real snug, set in some of the good ole marine epoxy. Lathers like a champ with a nice tame bloom. Thanks for looking.

Eric.

That's AWESOME. Excellent!

I've worked on a bone handle. You're right. They're a real PITA. Good job.

I am glad that the bone material was able to hold up under steaming. Some do and some don't, but your held up well and it looks great!

Enjoy!
