1st Weber shave - good razor, great handle

I finally got my hands on a Weber razor (DLC) and used it this morning for the first time. It's obviously a well-made instrument and I love the deep knurling on the bulldog handle. The head design looks very similar to Merkur's - and the shaving experience is similar as well. I had a pretty typical closed-comb shaving experience; I needed 3.5 passes to get a DFS. It may be a bit more aggressive than the Merkurs, but I can't be sure since I haven't used one in a long time. I think it's a keeper for those days when I don't want to use one of my open combs. As SS razors go, I definitely prefer it to a Feather and it's easier to use than my Ikon S3S, where blade angle is everything.

Hey Bob: I'm glad that U got a positive test drive on the Weber. I am a big Weber fan and love mine.

I've only used mine one time since I got it a couple months ago. I need to bring it out again as I remember it shaved very nice.

Too many razors, not enough beard to go around

My Weber DLC is the mildest razor I have, its aggression is negligible compared to Merkur 33C.
It needs an Astra SP or a Feather blade to get performance out of it, and it works best with shave soaps rather than slippery creams.

I find it handy for when I definitely want no nicks, and when I need to shave at some time well short of 24 hours after my last shave.

Interesting. I find it more aggressive than my Merkur, and less than my Tradere. One of my favorites.
That was the general consensus when I posted about it here a couple of months ago, when I first got it.

Mine is just not like that. I suspect some configuration or dimensional change in the last batch, as I now own plenty of razors where I seem to be in general agreement with everyone else's opinion of them.

Renato

Thanks. I wonder if it's of recent manufacture?

Still, it's handy having a razor that doesn't nick. As I discovered yet again today, when I was getting dressed up to go to a funeral, the propensity for nicking one's self with a regular razor increases exponentially with the quality of clothes one is going to wear.
Cheers,
Renato
