What's new

1st DE shave, Merkur 33c with Feather, wow!

So, after shaving exclusively with a straight razor for the past couple of weeks, I decided to give the DE a shot for those mornings when I need a quicker shave. This morning was my first go of it, and holy smokes- a BBS shave!

I used AOS preshave oil, TOBS sandalwood cream, my dV brush and my new Merkur 33c with a feather blade. I don't understand why some more experienced DE shavers steer us newbies away from this fine blade. I've never felt a smoother, closer, blood free shave! As much as I'd like to try different blades, I don't think I need to as I experienced the best shave that I can possibly imagine, and on my first attempt with this setup no less. Anyhow, I just wanted to share my excitement and gratitude for turning me on to this new way of life!

Congratulations, Pistol!!:clap::a14::clap::a14::clap:

No doubt your personal-best is the result of the all the time you spent with a SR, unconscioulsy honing your technique. Knowing your face and how to shave it with a straight crosses over very nicely when you pick up a DE (or SE, injector, or even a cart for that matter!)

Thanks! I actually experienced a closer shave than I have with my straights. I'm committed to getting that elusive first BBS shave with my straights, but it's going to be tough to pass over my DE razor now that I know how phenomenal that shave is!

Congrats on your first DE shave and the 33c with feathers is exactly what I started out with first, also. It's a great combo. Now I just have to follow your example and five straight shaving a try for the first time.
