What's new

1965 Slim

Got this one for $11.50 on an auction site the other day. It included some old blades but the description on this one just said it was a vintage razor. It looked like a Slim to me, and it was!

It was in really good shape and a little cleaning really brightened it up. I showed it to SWMBO and asked her if it looked 45 years old and she agreed that it looked nearly new.

That is a really nice score. I have a couple of Slims and they are great razors, but your razor is in much better cosmetic shape than mine. Enjoy many great shaves with it.:thumbup1:

very nice score - May I ask, what was your cleaning regimen with this one?

thanks
andy

Well, I give it a short soak in CLR, scrub it with a toothbrush, and rinse with very hot water. After it dries I give it a rub with a microfiber cloth and that's it.

I tried the scrubbing bubbles routine and stumbled on the CLR when I had an especially cruddy razor with what looked like calcium/soap buildup.

I wonder what the experienced cleaners in the group would think...

I wondered the same thing. That stuff is amazing on everything else, but I wonder if it would have any effect on the finish.

thanks - CLR - gonna run a few handles through that this weekend and see if I can get some bling out of a few drab razors I have - no plating concerns using CLR ?

thanks again

I don't think it has affected any of my razors but who knows...
