This is the scond razor Mum found at a shop on the weekend. A 1961 fatboy. The doors work perfectly and are even with a closing quarter turn. The dial feels perfect and clicks into place with no overvclocking etc. It was grungy as and bought sight unseen.

I boiled water and then let sit in dish soap. When cool it got scrubbed with a toothbrush . Then it got hit with some toothpaste and more scrubbing.

Under the gunk it revealed shhiny brass on those spots. The worst on one side of the handle. The top plate is is pretty decent. Noting I can do about plate loss. It still isn't clean on the nickel parts still. They could possibly get a better and restored.

Only spent about 20 mins on it to get it here from the pic in store. Blurry pic...Mum has never a taken picture in focus her whole life lol

Looks good considering the exposure damage. Plate moves up and down? Now use it.

It does I used it last night and got a DFS from it. The choice of a fresh voskhod with two days growth was a poor choice with a bit of tugging. Turned it up to 6 and got there in 3 passes.

In fact I liked the initial appearance much better.
Now it looks like every other FB out there... :(

Its my first vintage razor in my hands and really wanted to ad it to the rotation . These aren't exactly a dime a dozen in shops down here so lucky to pick it up. Hence the clean and wash.

I consider it very lucky to find one in Australia. Good work!

More toothpaste. Came up a bit shinier.

And yup a Aussie Fatboy find doesn't happen often I'd think. It's worth more than $20-30 bucks now. Going to paint on the numbers today and that will make a further difference. Thank you for the search function and all the info here in cleaning vintage razors. Invaluable !

Looks great. Polish always brings it up a few notches as long as you use a safe polish. I would wait to plate it until you decide if it is special enough to you to do so.
