19?? razor; a good guessing game for me.

I recently got into the hobby of buying different razors (straight and safety) and I was able to aquire this one. Honostly my knowledge is very limited but from the looks of it right off the bat, I know it is a single ring old style rasor. From the many websites that I have researched I thought that these models had serial numbers; this one doesnt or atleast worn competely off. I also believe this 'set' was parted together because I fell the case that it is in does not match the age/era of the razor.
I have attached pictures that shows the case and razor. On the underside of the razor head it is stampted with the Gillete trade mark and "MADE IN U.S.A." The letters D and inside this letter is a G; I guess it means this type is a DG. Is this razor a late 20's model? Please help me out. I am highly interested to know all about this razor.

I seem to remember that the G in a D meant that it was returned to the factory for repair, or am I having a senior moment?

Thanks for the information! I did look at the many areas that Ive seen serial number or atleast a number from the inner handle to the head of the saver and nothing. The razor seems plated; inner handle where the head screws on to is more copper/bronze and the wear of the edges on the razor itself shows this too. All in all I was pleased with this. I think I got this for like $25. I could be wrong, I bought another that is different style but still opens the same way as this one.

Skipnord-
Ive seen the same on multiple threads also, but I also seen similar notes like Alex2363. That is way I would think that this was a later model of the Single Ring style.

The dating system that Alex mentioned (single letter plus single number) is applicable only to razors in/after 1950. So, it isn't relevant in this particular case. As far as I know, skipnord is not having a senior moment and the "G" inside of the "D" merely denotes that it was sent in for repair and it has nothing to do with the date of the razor's production. The lack of a date code on your particular razor suggests that it is an Old Type single ring from sometime after 1921, when the date codes disappeared form the Old Type razors.

Not to be pedantic, but more specifically a serial number, not a date code. The business I am in requires being able to trace a particular item (tooling) through it's entire construction from data all the way to physical tool. Serial numbers (some unique sequence of symbols) are the only way to do that.

Not sure why Gillette thought that was such an important thing to do for a mass produced product, but gee I'm glad he made them do it.

How is the new locale Brian? Lots of pristine, overflowing with goodies vintage shops?
