A surprising 9.5/10
Gillette tech
Jifuli blade day 1
Proraso Sandalwood - face lathered
Yaqi 'England' 20mm synthetic
Tabac aftershave
Natio calming balm

The Tech / Feather experiment was called off for humanitarian reasons. The combo is almost a war crime, IMHO. YMMV though.

I opted for my new Jifuli blades. BBS with 2 small weepers (which I always expect with a day 1 blade). Face feels smooth with no irritation. My wife is impressed, but not nearly as much as I am!

Comments: A long Cube 2.0 soak-in, combined with warm BARRBARR lather, yielded a great shave this morning. Minimal buffing with the VDH razor gave me a smooth face feel.

Razor: Merkur 23c
Blade: Gillette Silver Blue, 2nd use
Brush: Maggard SYN 22
Bowl: Timeless Razors Red Bowl Bowl
Soap: Henri Et Victoria Cognac And Cuban Cigars Puck
Balm: Gillette After Shave Gel Gel

Good shave but not my best lather. I think I am using too much soap even with 1/8 tbsp scooper since I always have a good amount of soap still not dissolved in the bottom of the bowl when cleaning out. May have to look into a small scooper. Just couldn’t get a good whipped lather today.

Very comfortable razor and shave, but the closeness of shave seems to be a challenge with it. It leaves short stubble left here and there and there seems to be an especially challenging area along the jawline. Anyways still very serviceable shave.

This is the fourth excellent shave with the Karve SB razor and a Wizamet blade. At first, I was not a fan of the Karve Bradley razor. I did not find it as smooth as my other razors. However, once I began to use a steeper angle and took my time shaving the results were excellent. Today’s brush was a “big boy,” the Paladin Chief. This was the 119th shave with the Williams soap. A perfect shave. Have a wonderful day, folks.

I hadn't shaved for a few days so pulled out the OC Parker 26C and loaded up a BIC. The first pass was good but the seond and third felt a bit prickly with the BIC.
It was also my first shave with Mastro Miche 24-11 and it was a very nice lather. It lathers quickly and provided a slick lather with good residual slickness and post shave feel. It also has a very pleasant cologne/leathery scent.
A close shave with some Alum feedback and a bit of irritation (thinking the BIC is a bit too sharp for 3 passes with this razor!).

I am very relieved. I'll still try the blades you recommended, especially the Gillette yellows - I have read many good things about them - but the Jifuli blades from AliExpress been a very pleasant surprise!
The Gillette yellows are a great match to all the vintage (Gillette) razors I’ve tried them in this month. Not as expensive as some others too. I find them to shave very smoothly.

Wednesday’s shave…….
IMG_7023.jpeg
7 O’Clock long comb , shorter hollow handle version
7 O’Clock Gillette yellow blade
HWF soap…excellent lather
Proraso pre shave
Omega 20102 boar
Tremendous shave…..smooth, close, irritation free. The Kai blade might just be better in this razor but not by much.
Overall a 9/10 … point deduction for the nick in the corner of the mouth.

I actually liked this razor a bit better than the Empire style Wilkinson.
The Empire is very top heavy with a wonky balance point.
The Dunhill type is sleek and effective. Good balance.
Still like a razor blade on a stick, but not too scary.
Used a PAL Carbon to be more true to the original feel.
I don't hone so the original wedge blades can't be used.

After two consecutive - how should I put this - less than stellar shaves - I purposely picked elements this morning that I knew in advance could, should and would deliver a really great shave.
And it worked. As good a shave as I've ever had: close and smooth and a delight.
The Game Changer is one of my go-to razors if/when I'm having some trouble getting a good shave. It never lets me down. Simply outstanding.
And for the Astra SP, what can I say that hasn't been said before? It's simply one of the best. Period.
