Ratso

Mr. Obvious
Tuesday’s shave. 3 days growth.
Razor: Supply Single Edge.
Blade: Supply 3rd or 4th use.
Soap: Fine Aquamarine.
Brush: Semogue high density boar.
Preshave: Hot rag.
Postshave: Thayers witch hazel, Fine Aquamarine aftershave , Proraso white balm.
Alum feedback: face- low, neck- low.
Smooth: 9.7
Close: 9.3
Soap: 9.6
The supply razor gives me a super smooth shave. Not quite as close as some of my other razors, but I’ll give up a little closeness for more comfort any day. I also like the fact that I can remove the blade by removing a thumb screw. I don’t like leaving blades in my razors.

Pre: Hot shower
Razor: 1966 Slim @7
Blade: Personna Israeli red (1)
Cream: Speick, face/hand lather
Aftershave: Harry’s balm

Excellent shave, 9.5/10. Still traveling with no brush or bowl and the Slim is the only razor I brought (other than a Gillette SkinGuard that I haven’t used, a holdover from my old travel kit). I’ve been loving the Slim during this trip. Why then have I been subconsciously obsessed with ordering a Karve Overlander? Rhetorical question. I suspect we all know the answer.

#14 in 2024 GRUYERE shave sebaticle - Still in

#31 GRUME April 2024 - Still in

Date: 04.16.24

Days growth: 4

Head and face shave

Razor: Gillette Superspeed

Blade: Astra Superior platinum (3)

Brush: Omega Pro 48 boar

Pre-shave: Hot shower using Johnson and Johnson on face and head with facial scrubber

Lather: ARKO stick

Passes: 2 WTG ATG plus touchups

Post Shave Routine and products:

1 - Hot rinse with microfiber towel X2

2 - Cold rinse

3 - Cold rinse with microfiber towel X1

4 - Aftershave: 4711 splash

5 - Balm: 3in1

Notes: This evening’s shave was very enjoyable. I have not used ARKO in a while and I always underestimate its performance and how much I enjoy the scent. The 4711 complimented it perfectly. I did get one pretty good nick right under my nostril, pretty painful. Outside of that, it was a close comfortable shave.

QShave (clone of the Merkur Futur)
Shark stainless
TOBS Jermyn Street
Simpson's Chubby 1

Jermyn Street is one of my first favorite creams - love the scent and performance. The Chubby 1 easily provided ample lather for a great experience with the QShave. Even with a slightly uneven blade alignment, it gives a surprisingly strong shave repeatedly. And, combining it with Jermyn Street, I could pass over and over the same stubborn spots with no cuts or weepers. Certainly beats the last shave I posted..... 8.5/10

Tonight's shave, in which the Major adjusts again.

Warm shower
Phoenix Shaving Accoutrements Prickly Pear Mentholated Preshave Soap used as post-shower face wash + pre-shave

Gillette Slim Adjustable, 1966 Q3, set at 3 above the jawline, 4 below
Personna Platinum blade (3rd use)
Geo. F. Trumper Skin Food w/Limes

9/10. A DFS overall, even below the jawline.

Preshave: Glycerine Facewash with warm water splashes
Razor : Merkur 34C Slant
Blade : Gillette Nacet (D8)
Brush : Semogue SOC Boar
Soap : Stirling Vanilla Sandalwood
Aftershave : Alum Block + Cold water splashes + Old Spice Lime AS Lotion

Taking some time to use my DEs which are not being used because of my addiction to Feather AC system :thumbup1:

Close and comfortable BBS in 3 passes !! :pipe:

Soap: Stirling Scots Pine Sheep
Brush: Zenith 27mm Unbleached Coral Red 507RC XSE
Razor: Gillette Goodwill
Blade: Astra SP (3)

Rating: 9.5/10 - The Goodwill is an excellent razor, which gives a smooth pleasant shave. Very similar to a NEW Short Comb. With enough water, Stirling's sheep soaps are among the best. I love my boar brushes and Zenith's unbleached boars are among the best.

Wednesdays shave……
7 O’Clock OC
Perma Sharp blade
The Duke… best badger
Hampshire Tantra wool fat soap

A superb 10/10…… might have been helped by yesterdays super close Red Tip
shave. Not much to deal with this morning.
The 7 O’Clock is soooo smooth though. Gets close but low on irritation. How does it do it?

Razor: Gillette Black Handle SuperSpeed
Blade: Wilkinson Sword Classic - German (7)
Brush: EverReady 100T handle with synthetic knot
Soap: Mike's Peppermint & Rosemary
Aftershave: Speick
Rating: 10/10 - Easy one-pass shave with a cooling soap on what will be a ridiculously hot day.
