Bluebird Hi-Stainless
Thayers Witch Hazel Cucumber

Quite nice blades, these Bluebird. Smooth and sharp, they are nice to the skin, but deliver a very close shave. I like them!

Nice!

Sunday

Gillette SS
Derby blade (first time with a Derby)
GFT Rose cream (first time)
Wilkinson Sword bristle brush

Real Shaving Co - ASB

Not bad - found I had to do an extra pass ATG to get a smoother finish. Maybe thats the Derby blade though

Sunday afternoon

  • Coates Tea Tree & Rosemary shave soap
  • penworks silvertip
  • Merkur Progress on 2.5
  • Feather blade
  • Alum block
  • Witch Hazel
  • Pinaud Lilac Vegetal
  • Pennhaligon's Hammam Bouquet

The Coates soap is definitely not going to be for everybody. It's a vegetable soap, and has neither tallow nor lanolin. What it does have, though, is PLENTY of tea tree! It doesn't burn the eyes, but it was detectable through the package when I first got it.

Even with my hard water, this soap lathers well. It doesn't create mountains of lather, which some people want, but it covered nicely and was nice and slippery for me. I think that I like the cream a slight bit more for the lather that it makes, but the scent of the soap wins over the cream. Both are going to stay on my shelves, I think.

The only thing that I didn't like about the soap is that it doesn't currently come in a refill, only available in the wooden bowl.

Remember to call your moms and tell the mother of your children "Happy Mother's Day!"
