Another nick-free, cut-free shave with the straight. Similar to the pilot saying that a good landing is one where you end up in one piece, a good shave with a straight is one where you don't bleed to death.

My father wanted to try the straight, so he lathered up his cheek with some of the AK 1869, and made some very ginger strokes. It didn't cut his scruff as smoothly as he thought it would, but at least he didn't cut himself. Shortly thereafter, he was swatting his face with his disposable razor to even it all out. I don't see a straight in his future. He might eventually enjoy a DE, though.

After my shave, I used some newspaper (with a dark photo) as a strop. I was impressed with how well it finished the blade.

The milled stick does provide excellent lather and lasts a long time for me. I've been using it for about 3 weeks now and it still probably has another week left in it.

It won't be replaced when it runs out though. I prefer Palmolive.

That's interesting. I rate Speick as the number one shaving stick (tied with MWF for number one "soap" for me).

I love everything about it.

A stick lasts me ~2 months, you must really like to load up heavy.
