Cleaning DE razors

I wash my razor after use in warm water, and brush over with an old toothbrush loaded with a little toothpaste. Dry and buff with a microfibre towel. Blades I rinse and pat dry on the microfibre, then store on a magnetic blade card - basically a piece of Dollar Store magnetic strip with stick-on numbers applied to show how many shaves the blade's had.

I keep it simpler than that. I use a toothbrush and toothpaste. I have used this on a used razor I purchased that was not taken care of and it did a fine job. I have used tooth paste as a cleaner for years, but I did see on an older Razor Emporium video on restoring razors, Matt recommended the same method.

I would not use toothpaste without water, or rubbing it in with your fingers. Some are coarse enough to buff out scratches so it could take of plating. If you use it wet and a brush, you will be fine.
