Very nice shave.

Boker (vintage) and Clauss made some great razors.

Great shave! Amazing how it is so much easier than when I started. I remember at times I would actually sweat while holding the skin taut! I was too focused on technique when in reality it is all about having a sharp, smooth edge attained by proper honing and stropping. Now I usually shave in two passes plus touch up and I have a comfortable DFS.

SRAD is winding down and I will be listing some of my razors on BST.

I really like this pre-shave routine. I haven't had a weeper in a long time.

Comfortable DFS. The dry air does a number on my skin so today I used pre shave oil today. It worked out well. I also listed some of my razors on BST.

First pass: North to South. Nice and easy.
Second pass: South to North mostly.

Great shave with a two pass DFS. Since honing on coticule for the last month my skin feels smoother, and healthier post shave. I haven't had a single weeper using different blades. I don't think I'll be able to cut skin even if I tried...I tell ya!

I didn't go through your whole journal to find out (yes im lazy ;), but you seem to get away nicely with only two passes? Mostly WTG and ATG (when you say North-South, South-North)?

Also, the La Grise seems to be treating you well so far, you don't seem to miss film too much?

When I started I used to shave with the grain, across the grain, against the grain like a DE. For some reason it is much easier to shave north to south, south to north with a straight razor and I get better results.

I honed many razors on film for a year. I equate film edges with Jnat edges which are crisper, lively and aggressive. Honestly I can get a crispy edge from a coticule if I wanted using the Unicot method or finishing with oil.

Now I prefer extra smooth, forgiving edges; enter the Undilucot method or finishing on watered down slurry (roughly 70% slurry 30% water). I get the same results with the La Grise or La Veinette.

Cool. I think I'll try the two-pass tonight and see how it goes.

Just wanted to drop it and say that the two-pass was a success! Actually I felt like I just leveled-up! Almost no sting from the alum, and none from the aftershave, I was almost disappointed! :)

The biggest downside is that it goes faster to shave now... lol
