NOW CLOSED 2017 B&B Gold Dollar Mod Competition- Novice Class

Well folks here is one of mine just to wet your feet and mine, And a little eye candy for you.
Wood is Black Walnut brass pins and washers, I thinned the spine and gave it a flat top, then I removed the stabilizer rounded the heel, cut the toe back and gave it a point. I had to thin the spine over, but seeing as this is a Gold Dollar Mod. I gave the blade a touch of colour in fact gold to match the name. So it lives up to its name, but it does need tape to hone.
it tops hairs on the arm and yes it shaves as I did use it yesterday.
So onto the eye candy.

Excellent work. Did you electroplate the blade or is it a chemical burnish? Either way it looks awesome

Taking the very helpful critique by @sfeile and @Ice-Man, which confirmed my original thoughts on the matter, I went back and used gardener's jute for my wrap. The end results came out a little different because I needed to think about waterproofing the jute and so I put a layer of CA and some paste wax, which did change the color a bit from original, but not as significantly as the black leather cord. So v.1.2 of my garden bed Kamisori:

Looks less refined, but I guess that's the look I was going for. One more day to let all the adhesives set, and then final cleaning and honing.

Looking good, guys! I think there's more competition here than in the unlimited class!
Next week we will post the official entry thread so you guys can start showing off your work.

@Dcaddo111 Thanks David, cause @sfeile Shawn has something up his sleeve and he is playing to cool.

Shawn is sneaky like that...

Yes I'm thinking the same I think he is holding back till last minute.

:a47: I can't believe you guys would say that about me:ninja::ninja::ninja::ninja::ninja::shuriken::shuriken::shuriken::shuriken::ninja::ninja::ninja::ninja:

:lol:Actually I have pretty much put it all out there except a final finish and assembly. Pins/washers were shipped out today, so in a few days you will see it all put together.
What you have seen is what you will get.

Although when it's done, I might get my real camera gear out and at least act like I used to be a semi-pro photographer. :letterk1:

So yeah, I'm gonna take my crappy little razor, some fancy lighting...... :001_tt2::001_tt2::001_tt2::001_tt2:
