Notes/Other information:
Williams shaving sticks were available as early as 1899.[1]
The earliest known mention of the Williams Holder Top Shaving Stick appeared in the 1911 American druggist and pharmaceutical record.[2] By 1912 print ads were common.
The earliest sticks were packaged in leather-covered tins. Later tins were plated, probably in nickel. By 1932 Williams had introduced a red "marbelite" case, possibly bakelite or catalin. Manufacturing of these was suspended at some point during WWII due to material shortages.
In 1964 the Holder Top cost 48 cents, and a refill or reload cost 28 cents.[3] By 1968 it was 59 cents.[4] The last known ads for the Williams Holder Top Shaving Stick appeared in Life magazine, ca. 1965.[5] The last known mention in print appears to be 1976.[6]
