I first had a short experience with a DE razor while I was in the Marine Corps and stationed at Camp Lejeune, NC (97 or 98). I found a DE razor, the brand I can not remember in the PX, but I remember buying it because of the costs of the refills. That lasted until I lost it during a field op and when I went back to get another one, the PX no longer carried them. That brings me to today. I had several issue with shaving and found that wet shaving has cured all of my problems. What I thought was a problem with acne was ingrown hairs. Shaving with a DE razor has practically eliminated my ingrown hairs completely. Secondly, the cost for a Mach 3 cartridge was irresponsible to the economy at best. Being a fairly frugal person, I was only using about 8 cartridges over a 12 month period. I was prepping my face by splashing hot water on my face for about 30 seconds than shaving. That?s right, no shaving cream. I learned to tolerate that when I was in the Marine Corps. I always did only one pass straight down, not paying attention to the direction hair grew on my face. I ran across BB looking for some shaving tips. Boy was I in for a surprise. Not only did I get tips, I got an overhaul. My initial razor is the Merkur in my lineup. However I am trying each razor as I clean and disinfect them in my collection. I started collecting the day I started wet shaving.
