Company Info
Rooney (officially "R. A. Rooney & Sons Ltd." or "City of London Brushworks") is — or perhaps was — a British brush manufacturing company and brand of shaving brushes.
The brand goes back to at least 1853, when they appeared in an international exhibition.[1] At that time Rooney had premises in London (Bishopsgate Street) and in Ireland (Brown Hill Brush Works, Galway). They made various types of brushes, including shaving brushes, brooms, horse brushes, and paint-brushes.
The earliest known corporate entity was R. A. Rooney & Sons (1977) Limited, of 167 High Rd, Loughton Essex IG10 4LF, incorporated in 1977 and dissolved in 2005.[2]
The most recent known premises were known as Unity Works, Sutherland Road, London E17 6BP.
The last known corporate entity for the Rooney brand was Robert Alexander Rooney & Sons Ltd, of 54 New Rd, Seven Kings, Essex IG3 8AT, incorporated in 2008 and dissolved in 2014.[3]
