This page intends to inform a wetshaver using a Double Edge safety razor on how many shaves they should expect from a DE Blade. We first need to define a few items before we can conclude on something specific.

First, there are a few factors to consider before this question could be answered:

• Number and direction of passes
• The blade itself
• The area of the shave (mustache, goatee, full beard)

A shave is defined by the user itself. It consists of the whole shaving session. The shaving session could contain 1-2-3-4 or more passes. The number of passes, as well as the direction of passes, will affect the longevity of the blade.

Each blade, like any DE Razor, is different. Some blades will give a smoother shave where others simply won't. Same goes for the number of shaves[13] [14] [15] [16] [17] [18] [19]. Some blades might give you 2 shaves where others might give you 7 shaves. The same blade could give you 2 shaves where another wetshaver would get 7 out of it. From the package of 5 or 10 blades that you bought, some blades might give you 3 shaves and the next one in the package might give you 5 full shaves.

Another thing that will affect the shave is what you are shaving. If you have a mustache and let say you do 3 passes, you won't shave a small amount of hair for 3 passes where another user would. In the end, it could mean a full shave extra compared to someone else.

Considering that most users do a full face shave consisting of 3 passes. The average of the popular brand razor blades is 3 shaves. Now, keep in mind that this is an average, and your mileage may vary (YMMV). It doesn't mean that you will get 3 shaves out of each blade.
