Barrister and Mann

Description:

As of 2021, Barrister and Mann (B&M) offers two main lines of shaving soap: Classic and Reserve.

The "Classic" soaps include the company's core line-up of original scents (Seville, Cheshire, Bay Rum, Lavanille, Cologne Russe, Le Grand Chypre), as well as a lengthy rotating list of seasonal/recurring scents that are only available for limited runs. Over the years, the company has reformulated the soap base used for its "Classic" line a number of times. These were named successively as follows: White Label -> Glissant -> Excelsior -> Ombnibus.

The "Barrister's Reserve" line features a range of scents that are meant to be recreations of older and well-known 'classics' that are no longer in production by the companies that originally made them. Some examples: Lavender is modeled on Caldey Island Lavender, Blue is modeled on Floid Blue, Spice modeled on the old version of Old Spice. The "Reserve" line uses its own soap formula that is distinct from from the "Classic" line.

Of note, from late-2019-2021(?), B&M has offered a limited range of additional soaps in what the company refers to as the "Soft Heart Base" and later the "Hardened Soft Heart Base".
