Your "Recovery" Shave

I'm one of the "heavy, tough beard - sensitive skin types. For the most part the orbits of my shaving hardware and software stay pretty much the same. Provided I don't deviate, I get consistent BBS shaves with no irritation day in and day out. "Where's the fun in that?" you ask. Exactly.

Every now and then I'll test drive something new. Sometimes it's great. Sometimes not so great. When it's not so great I have to go into "recovery mode" for a day or two. MWF, and a Feather blade in a late 40's SS always gets me back on track in no time.

Anyone else have a specific shave they use in similar circumstances?

Regards,

Les

Crystal or astra in my tech mastiff or 40s SS with prarie creations or mama bears soaps. Good glide with gentile cut and only do 2 - 3 pass.

Two things seem to work for me, Speick Shaving Cream and Provence Sante Soap. Two or three easy shaves with either of these is all I need, I should probably use them all the time instead of just "911 shaves".

Recovery Shave:

Shower
Kyle's Prep
Shavemac 177
MWF
40s Gillette SS
Israeli Red Pack
WWR/CWR
SCS Bulgarian Lavender ASM

Wait....was this SoTD or a thread about Recovery Shaves??

On the odd occasion that i decide to experiment and hack my face to bits, the next shave involves a milder 40's SS with a Red IP and several splashes of Witch Hazel and a couple of coatings of Nivea ASB..

Slim set on 4, PR Personna, TOBS Sandalwood. BBS, no irritation nearly every time.

Learning t o shave with my cooncatbob amboyna burl NEW, and I've needed a 2 day break with the Slim after 3-4 shaves with the NEW. Coming around though on the NEW.

I'm trying a new routine, which includes a "take it easy" shave every other day. Same setup, but I just do one pass WTG, one pass XTG and done. Not BBS, but it gets me presentable and my skin looks much better.

My recovery shave is a Trac II and KMF used as a brushless cream. Two passes gets me presentable without beating up my face.

Derby in a Muhle DE89 with Col Conk Amber soap, followed by alum, a pause, a rinse and then Nivea or Proraso cream AS and a bottle of Steam Whistle beer.

Very soothing.

Lord (SS) in Lord (LP1822) with Arko stick and boar brush.

Budget shave with no chance to go wrong.

Might use a less economical AS for compensation.

How interesting! With all the products available and you turn to an old standby in Nivea!

You know, mine has been on the shelf for over a year plus since I discovered the plethora of products available...I might try some out tomorrow for S&Gs...havent used it in forever but I remember it was really good stuff!
