What's new

Your input please

I love my Grosvenor 2-band. good size, great flowthru, easy to lather, good face feel, not crazy dense (like the chubby2 i just sold) and gets the lather on my face instead of stuck inside the brush. but, i find myself longing for a slightly larger brush still. something in the 22-24mm knot range. i want it to be soft but it doesn't have to be a pillow, some scrub is okay. i want it to not be overly dense or, in other words, it must have good flow thru. i don't care if it's 2 band or 3 band. i would like for it to work well with both soaps and creams.

finally, i'd like to keep it at or below $100.

perhaps i am describing the brush i already have...still interested in your input.

thanks.

ones brush i've been eyeing: http://www.truefittandhill.com/detail_00276__19.html

Simpsons Commodore X3 in best. It has a great shape and is just a nice all around brush.

Past that get a hold of Rudy Vey. He could put something together for you easy for less than $100. Rudy typically uses TGN knots, and the 22mm Super Silvertip knot is great. It is exceptionally soft and of medium density. I have one that was a very nice cream brush at a 48mm loft. That makes it a smaller brush to me, but its very very nice. The TGN 24mm Silvertip Grade A is also very nice and a little bit bigger. You will trade a little bit of softness for a slightly bigger knot. I also have a brush with this knot and its very pleasant set at 50mm loft. I face lather with it, so even if you set the loft at 55mm I think it would still be nice.

I'm a fan of that TH 1/2 you bookmarked.
I have one in bone and I think it's a great brush.
Another thing: 20% discount for B&B.
Add "BB10" in the Apply Discount Code field and your ttl before shipping is $79.20.
Pretty sweet.

I think you have a very good election I have a Rooney 1/1 something more small but is an excellent brush I love it the handle in ebony looks very nyce.:thumbup1:

The T&H 1/2 is a nice soft brush, but I personally found it to be a bit floppy. It has many fans though, and I'm more picky than I should be about brushes :001_rolle so take my thoughts with a grain of salt.

22mm Supersilvertip probably wouldn't be bigger than a grosvenor. I'd agree with Loric on the Simpsons best. Get the biggest one your $100 budget allows. The other option I'd look at is a custom brush with a TGN 30mm Grade A. Set it deep and it's about the size of a Chubby 1 or 2. Not as dense or soft, but at ~half price (or less), it's a good brush.

Scott - that T&H/Rooney style 1 size 2 sounds perfect for what you are describing. I have the same brush. It's not my favorite, but it's very nice.

... it has much easier flow through than the CH2 and feels bigger than the CH2 because it splays out a bit more and has a longer loft. It's excellent with creams, and OK with soaps. Lathers like a beast. The handle is very comfy. An all around good brush and with the 20% discount from T&H a good buy.

I got mine in Super and I find it to be a tad flippy floppy. If I could buy it again it would be in Best.
