What's new

Your Favorites Discontinued.

If you found out today that your favorite razor/brush/soap/cream was discontinued and no longer available, what would you replace them with? For vintage, obviously they are discontinued but what if they were no longer available? What would be your new favorites?

Blades:

Gillette Spoiler
Personna 74
Gillette Swedes

Soaps:

P-160
Irisch Moos
All the now gone tallow versions of the European soaps

Razors:

there are enough good new ones that I don't lament any that are no longer made and they are still available on the used market

Brushes:

there are enough good brushes being made that I don't miss any that are no longer available.

Razor
Inexpensive: Muhle R89 Grande
More Expensive: Feather AS-D2
Blades: Personna Med Prep; Astra SP
Soap: Mike's...I say this even though I use Mike's often, now, my favorite is MWF
After Shave: Captain's Choice Bay Rum
Brush: I am mainly using Whipped Dog Silvertips right now. I just ordered a Simpsons to try a badger brush with less loft...so, untried-Simpson

My favorite razor is the EJ89 but I just got a Weber so I'm hoping that will become my new favorite.

My favorite soap is DRH Windsor, MWF would become my new favorite.

My favorite brush is probably my EJ Silvertip, my new favorite would be my Essential B&B boar.

I've actually become quite fond of Gillette Silver Blue and Gillette 7 O'Clock Black blades. Polsilver SI blades are also very nice. If any of these suddenly became extinct, it would take a few samplers to find something else (or exchanges with Toothpick/Jason).

My favorite soap was The Art of Shaving's tallow-based soap. This was discontinued several months ago, and I have yet to find a new favorite. Mike's Natural Soaps comes close.

As for blades, I favor a few: Astra SP, Personna Lab Blues, and Polsilver SI. So there's less chance that I'll be left blade-less.

Dirty Donuts are so Good.
When I travel, I really enjoy getting the opportunity to use my vintage Trac II handle with the just recently discontinued Wilkinson Sword brand Trac II carts. I hit every single Wal-Mart grocery store in the greater OKC metropolitan area and walked away with over 200 cartridges. Since I only use the Trac II when traveling or pressed for time, 200 carts with about 10 shaves a cart should last awhile.

For me, Wilkinson Sword Super Sword Edge or Wilkinson stainless Nos blades work in any razor that I own. They don't feel incredibly sharp, but they're super efficient and that's all that matters.
