What's new

You will be hard pressed to convince me.

I am a 2 month rookie DE shaver and I have been using various blades that I have received in samples packs, PIFs and with other orders and I finally, out of sheer curiosity, ordered a 5 pack of Feather blades to try. I put one in my Muhle R101 last night and I was totally convinced that these blades are worthy of all the hype. I am a head shaver also and I have a few spots on my neck and head where going ATG, even after several passes W and XTG, are quite challenging for most blades. In my razor the Personnas have been the best performers until last night. I will be cruising the net today for the best price on a 100 pack. I am officially on the Feather band wagon and you will be hard pressed to convince me to get off. Thanks B&B Ladies and Gents for all the advice in all the forums.

I wish I could say the same but I don't think feathers agree with my face. Gillette yellows are a lot like feathers and are cheaper.

I agree, Feather blades rock. Best price would be Jason (dridiot) over in the vendor forum. 100 pack was is the 27-28 dollar range shipped, the last time I got a quote - maybe a little less, I can't remember. PM him to get a quote to your location.

His latest thread:

Note, he's in Singapore, so will take a bit to get them. Generally, ten days or so to my location in Indiana.

Thank you James.

polsilvers are good too

i am new to this DE shaving and from what i've read....i'm scared to try the feathers since i dont like bleeding.

Hated Feathers in my first sampler - ended up being the first 100 pack I bought!

Revisit blades/razors/any product later on. Your technique eventually catches up to some and completely bypasses others. And sometimes YMMV.

I still haven't tried Feathers; I use Gillette yellows, and to me they're like shaving with buttered angel wings. I have been thinking about cracking open the Feathers I got with my sampler pack way back when, but I'm having too much fun with the Yellows!

Feathers have been in my top 5 faves for a long time. I must have close to 800 of them by now.

My exact experience. All I use now, though a friend pif'ed me a bunch to try.

Alex I look forward to trying some Polsilvers and Celestino I have wanted to try the SI's. I have heard many good things about them. I am ordering a 100 pack of the Feathers to be my daily blade. I have tried the Gillette Yellows and I thought Personnas gave me a better shave. I realize that razor and blade combos vary and I am also aware that as technique improves you should revisit products. I ask all of you, will we ever not continue to sample so many of the fine products that are available to us? I have my AD under control, but I am not cured. lol Thank you all for your opinions.

I was through the Feathers in my blade sampler before I heard about their reputation for biting neophyte shavers. I had no problems with them, but I really didn't find much difference at all between blades. Maybe I could now that I've been at this a while.

Oh yeah, well I say "Get off"!!!!

Feather are great and probably the sharpest but not the smoothest.
If I were you I buy the pack but try a few more blades along the way.
Maybe not now but after a few months you might have new razors and improved technique.
There are some scary sharp but super smooth blades out there that you want to try at least once.

Tried to explain the concept of 'sharp' vs 'smooth' to which SWMBO replied

"they're just all blades aren't they....?" and I answered

"and they're JUST SHOES aren't they...?"

Good thing the sofa is comfy.
