What's new

You have $100 for a brush-

only other brushes you own are the EJ travel brush (best badger) and a pure badger from AOS. Exclusively face lather. Up till now have only used creams, but first puck of the Fat just arrived from WCS and am looking forward to giving it a try.

Looking to step up in the brush world.

What would you buy? Should I spend more money or is $100 a good jumping off point?

Get a Simpson X2L and a Semogue 620 or 830.

TGN finest custom, Semogue 1470 and start saving for a chubby 1 and Rooney Finest.

;)

In truth either of the first two options could easily be your only brush without problems, unless you decide you want more.

Have Rudy Vey craft you a personalized brush with a TGN knot of your choice, he has a large selection of materials/colors to choose from and the handle shape/style is limited only by your imagination. In my opinion it beats the hell out of off the shelf stock and his turnaround time is typically only 1 week...amazing really for a personalized brush.

+1 on the omega boar for $10-15 bucks......They constantly out perform my $100+ badgers with ease. Then stock up on some arko, cella, palmolive, proraso, etc etc!!

Can't go wrong with Simpson's product line.

The Semogue SOC 2 Band/SOC Bristle is also another consideration that would approach close to $100 for the pair (depending upon where you order them).

Rooney 3/1 Silver Tip, because I just got one a week or so ago and it's an amazing brush with ultra soft tips. It's perfect for face lathering.

First choice is save a Duke 3 from westcoastshaving Witt he discount code
Second choice is a custom brush with a TGN finest knot + a Semogue boar brush

Personally, I would choose door #2 as those two brushes get heavy use in my den and my Simpson does not.

I would go with a Semogue, or an Omega. I tried lots of badger brushes, but I switched over to mostly boar as I prefer the feel of them. And at that price it is worth trying out
