Yeti Snot Review

After reading a previous post asking about Yeti Snot I decided I would look into it. I was intrigued by the name and thought it would be funny to try. I ordered that as well as the Columbian Necktie which has a citrus scent. The two 5oz pucks with shipping were 14$. I even asked for an extra sticker for each to put on the containers and he gave them to me in the envelope.

Let me start by saying that the only mentholated soap I've tried was Proraso Green cream which I thought had a somewhat minty smell but not much in the way of making my skin tingle. That's perfect for me as I don't really need my skin tingling. I ordered some valobra menthol on clearance but haven't tried it yet. I had a feeling Yeti Snot was going to be too cold for me but figured I'd try it for the sheer novelty.

The puck came in a simple package.

I understand this to be a melt-and-pour soap. The puck was a bit translucent which for some reason added to the novelty for me.

WOW. My eyes started watering when I began loading my brush. The puck wouldn't fit in my apothecary mug and my Grundtl containers haven't arrived yet so I loaded from the puck while holding it in my hand. My hand was tingling after a few seconds. I loaded my brush(30mm TGN Finest) for maybe 10 seconds and then went to the mug. By this time my eyes were watering. I swirled for almost a minute before I began lathering my face.

I have to be honest, the lather was a bit airy and thin but it's very possible I was just rushing things. Although the shave was probably a bit rushed it wasn't too bad. For some reason I lathered up for a second pass and holy cold batman. I rushed through a second pass and called it quits. I'm a pansy and apparently this stuff is too cold for me. If menthol is something you like then this is the stuff for you. I will say the smell reminded me of Vick's menthol rub.

I'm still a bit of an amateur when it comes to soaps so I don't know how to rate it for cushion and all those other things but overall I think it was a decent soap just too cold for me. I'll probably throw the puck in as a freebie on my next B/S/T posting.

I used it for the first time this morning, and while I found it strong, it was not overpowering (and I am not a menthol guy either). The funny thing was that I had more tingling on my hand than my face.

I don't have it "dialed in, " but my normal face lathering routine yielded (like your experience) a thinner and airier lather than I like (my go to's are mostly pretty highly regarded artisan soaps, so I'm spoiled). That said, while it wasn't a pretty lather, I got a REALLY REALLY GOOD shave, with a very aggressive razor. No nicks, irritation, etc, which I can't always say for that razor even with some highly regarded soaps. I think on the whole, it is a good soap. Not one I'd use every day, but It will stay in the rotation.

I, too, am curious about their soaps so I went to their website: http://shavingyeti.com, and ordered a couple of pucks (one of the snot and one of the Shore Leave). Turns out they are now also selling their soaps in stick form as well, and they are currently offering 10% of discounts for sales. Worth checking out.

Yep, their shaving site just opened a few days ago. I have the Snot, but haven't tried it yet. Looking forward to giving it a spin down the road after I work though a few open crops.

I've used the snot a few times and it is just too much menthol for me

I got a couple decent shaves out of it. The problem I had is similar to others. I face lather, and I just couldn't stand the menthol to lather it long enough

I traded away my puck of Yeti Snot...not because it was bad, but because SWMBO said I could NOT put something called "Yeti Snot" on my face and expect kisses from her... so I did my husbandly duty and traded it away - LOL

I did go right back to their website and buy a sample pack, plus one large puck of Columbian Necktie and I must say I really like them alot...!

I took advantage of the sample collection they have. I have some Sterling Glacial which is supposed to top even the Snot. It is defiantly a summer soap or just a very slow morning starter. Looking forward to trying all of the samples soon.

Shaved with the Snot a few days ago, when I was getting a hint of a winter head cold.
Wow, it opened everything up! Extreme chill, even brought tears to my eyes!
Since, I've ordered a few pucks from the new website, so affordable, and look forward to trying!

Had my first yeti snot shave this morning. Talk about a kick! The menthol was tremendous! At first the lather was a little thin, but I kept adding water and it kept taking it. Was very thick by the time I finished face-lathering. After 3 passes, I finished up with some Osage Rub. Man, did I feel great! Loved it. Next up is Shore Leave, then Columbian Necktie, then Creamsicle. Looking forward to all of them!

That Yeti Snot soap is frigid stuff. For me it lathers very well and I like the scent. I have a hard time saying which is colder between this soap and the Stirling Glacial soap.

Woah I just tried it this afternoon and it was wonderful. The Yeti Snot is perfect for South Mississippi weather and it is COLD. I would say if you have sensitive skin stay away as the menthol may be too much. Overall ,I loved the scent and could definitely pick the peppermint from the menthol, and it was very very fresh. It did take a bit for it to load and I was worried that the lather would not come together but with a little bit of patience it worked wonderfully:001_smile. The lather was not super thick, but it was super slick and very protective. Second pass only got me colder. I must say I love all of the Shaving Yeti products and if the Snot is not for you, try the others because the shaves and the scents are awesome. Overall while I am admittedly new, I would recommend if for nothing more than novelty.

Like hot peppers and kicks to the groin, Snot builds in intensity.

While the first pass was refreshing; the second pass, uh... exhilarating(?); the third pass... I just handed in my man card and cried.

What I love it for is mixing with other non-menthol soaps to get just the amount of tingle I'm looking for. Either swirl the brush a few times on Snot, and then move to another soap; or simply pinch off a chunk and knead it with another soap into a tin for repeated use.

It's good stuff.

I am fortunate as Yeti Snot is made here locally and I can get it pretty readily from a cutlery store. I originally bought it as a novelty, but I like it as a wake up call with a double espresso in the morning. The other one I really like is Dr. Yeti as it has a little bourbon smell to it and it mixes well with the Derby City Chop Shop's shave tonic. It's my "going out" mix for dates with the wife in the 'Ville.

The new Barrister and Mann Arctique has gotten me into this extreme metholated stuff, does anyone happen to know how Yeti products compare??

While I don't have first hand experience with Arctique, I just read a comparison review earlier today that claimed Yeti Snot was colder. I do however have a first hand comparison of Yeti Snot vs Stirling Glacial Spearmint. Stirling is colder and freezes your face for longer, but Yeti has more eye watering fumes. As for the other characteristics,; lather, slickness, cushion, etc, Stirling wins hands down

Wow! I bought mine at the same Louisville cutlery store but I never knew it was made in that area. That's a nice store and I give him as much business as I can.
