What's new

Yesterday, in the supermarket…

Yesterday, in the supermarket, I bumped into an old friend and his twin brother.

We hadn’t renewed our acquaintance for quite some time, which was more my fault than theirs.

While they never quite made it into the inner circle of close friends, they were always around when needed and I always liked them for their dependability and ability to get the job done. This is something I do appreciate even more at times of wannabe artisans and people trowing around inflated terms like “amazing” and “game changer” that in truth often just mean “scarcely better than average”.

As far as I know, they were originally from the US, but over the years they have called many places home; Germany, India, yesterday they came from Italy, but I am sure there are other places…
Interestingly, the one place where they are hardly seen nowadays is in the US.
I invited the olive-skinned one home with me because we go back a long time, and the ensuing get-together was truly lovely, but I think that next time I should invite the fairer one along as well.

They come from a large and extended family and sometimes they look confusingly similar, so one has to look closely to tell them apart.

They used to have a little brother who had many friends who loved him dearly, but sadly he is no longer with us.
Her surely is missed…

I enjoy meeting old, down to earth friends and cannot help thinking that I should make more of an effort to keep seeing more of each other.
Reliability and dependability are qualities that we should appreciate more, even if they come in modest, unpretentious clothes, don’t you agree?

All of that but you didn’t say the name of the supermarket or where it is.

So, not in the US. I thought if it was in the US it would be helpful to know what supermarket was stocking it.

{my emphasis}

Unfortunately, about twice the price that I paid…
Talking about price, as I can buy Lea at half the price ($1.90 vs. $3.80) in that Portuguese supermarket, Palmolive remains unlikely to become part of my regular rotation.

But if you want to try Palmolive at $6.50, what was the name of the greatest river in South America again? 😏

‘Interestingly, the one place where they are hardly seen nowadays is in the US.” That is the sentence, with your use of the word “hardly”, that caught my attention. My initial thought was that you had found a supermarket in the US that carried it. I’m sorry that I was unable to deduce from your post that you live in Portugal.

Is it swell time?
Germany, India, yesterday they came from Italy, but I am sure there are other places…
Netherlands can be added. Widespread in drugstores and selected supermarkets. Dirt cheap at that. Haven’t tried it myself yet must say. I do have a Nivea tube. But there are tubs I need to finish first!

All of that but you didn’t say the name of the supermarket or where it is.

Not sure what difference it makes, but here you go:
Continente Coimbrashopping · Coimbra - https://maps.app.goo.gl/NTBJAqp1jQokQTiZ6?g_st=im.
The closest international airports are Porto and Lisbon…

So, not in the US. I thought if it was in the US it would be helpful to know what supermarket was stocking it.

This is why it's nice to know what market you're in. :biggrin1:
