What's new

Yeah, I really like this soap. (PICS)

I'm really enjoying my new puck of AOS Lemon soap. I've had just a couple of shaves with it so far and I've done one or two test lathers just to get a feel for the soap. This is one of the easiest lathering soaps I've ever tried and is quite forgiving with water ratios. This really is an utterly fantastic soap.

This morning, seeing as the heat wave here has broken and it's not going to be 102, I put the Proraso aside so I could enjoy a nice shave with my new puck of AOS. I have to say this soap is really amazing stuff. It takes minimal loading to produce enough lather for more than three passes. I'm not talking a lather that looks good but is in fact devoid of substance, I mean a rich, cushiony, slick lather that really protects.

Soaking the brush and getting ready for the shave.

Here's the brush loaded with about a 10 second spin. I've never gotten away with such little loading of the brush with any other product. Look at how much is loaded into the brush! I do have soft water and I'm sure that helps, but with such light loading this should be a very long lasting soap making it an excellent value.

Here's the brush after working up the lather on the old visage. Dipping the tips of the brush in the water a few times and working the lather on the face made so much lather it was falling off the brush and flying onto the mirror.

Finally, here's the brush after my third and last pass. If I were a four pass shaver there would still be plenty of lather for a fourth pass.

I'm really glad I bought this soap and I will surely buy more of it, especially when AOS has one of their sales. AOS has earned a permanent place in my den.

GREAT PICS Foyle, thanks for sharing. I've personally been holding out on grabbing an AOS puck with (possibly futile) hopes of an eventual Ocean Kelp puck.

How is the scent Foyle? Is it like lemon zest or more like fresh cut lemon? Thanks

My sense of smell is pretty lousy. I usually can't detect much scent during my shave. To me the scent is a very light lemon zest sort of scent. It's just enough to be pleasant without hitting you with a blast of lemon. I think a lot of gents would be able to detect more lemon than I can in this. I chose the lemon because I like citrusy scents and because I couldn't even smell the sandalwood at all when I sniffed the sample in the store. That's not a comment on the soap's scent quality, it's a comment on my sense of smell.

I really expect this puck to perform as well as vintage Old Spice, but have a more pleasant scent (I'll go with lemon, too!) and last longer, when I get my hands on a puck! Glad you're enjoying it!

It's pretty impossible not to get a fantastic lather from AoS soaps...they are that good!! Personally, I prefer the Sandalwood which, IMO, has the most prominent scent of the three available. Unfortunately, AoS soaps( and in particular the Sandalwood) are almost impossible to find now here in the UK, and they don't ship here either from online purchases.:cursing:

If you want to get them, Amazon UK has the full line. I don't know if it's comparable to the few sources you've found over there, but may be something for the future.

Looks great, Foyle!
Methinks I need to load my brush more as I'm struggling to get enough lather for my 3rd pass (just relearning how to use a boar)
