As some of you may already know, recent acquisitions have pushed my pipe inventory beyond the (somewhat) reasonable limit I have set for myself. Time to thin the herd. This is the first cut: pipes I just simply don't smoke often enough to justify keeping around. There may or may not be a second cut later, depending on how this goes. Here's a group shot, complete with Mini-Dude so you know where it's coming from...
Okay, slightly better individual shots, clockwise starting at 1 o'clock. I will be happy to take additional photos if you are interested, or of course to answer any questions you might have.
1. First up, a Mastro de Paja handmade. A bent billiard with a really sweet blast. Great jaw hanger. Only some fairly light rim darkening. $75 SOLD!
2. Next, a Peterson Shannon 999. Light rim darkening, lost most of the paintfill in the "P" stamp on the stem, and - full disclosure - this has been my BCF pipe for a while, so you'll have to give it a salt/alcohol treatment if you don't want a hint of chocolate in your smokes. $50
3. I bought this unmarked classic English bulldog from the Ser Jacopo rep during my B&M's pipe event a couple years ago. Purportedly made with 50 year old briar, it is very lightweight. Not the prettiest grain, so it didn't make their cut, but it is a solid smoker, and very lightly smoked. $40
4. This Caminetto egg is a great pipe that fits perfectly in hand. It just doesn't get reached for very often - I've only put 3 bowls through it. Great condition. $110.
