Has anyone seen these boots in person or actually purchased a pair. I LOVE the way they look. They are a bit pricey, but they look like they can be re soled. I would love some input on these.

Ditto. I don't know how I missed it, but there was a give-away for pair on AoM a few months back...

They *are* expensive, but look like they'd be your best friend.

Have you seen the new 1000 Mile Book for 2010? The "Addison":

These 1000 Mile boots are nice, but hard to obtain. Seems the only place I would be able to buy them would be Neiman Marcus in SF, which would be a 2.5 hour drive. Not sure it is worth it. They have some other nice boots (the Montgomery for instance) in the line, but they are Made in China. Only one model the main "1000 mile" is Made in USA. I think the Addison is replacing it too, since it is also Made in USA. These are priced at $325.

Those boots can be resoled. If they are for fieldwork/outdoor work, I would actually buy Redwing over Wolverine. But I'm guessing you are looking for more of an urban dress boot.

If that is the case, for the same money you can buy the Alden Indy boot, which I guarantee is a better boot than the Wolverine. The Alden, for starters, is lined. Unlined boots generally require thicker socks to be comfortable for long stretches of time. I can wear my Indy boots all day without tiring my feet.

Regardless of how you go, look for a stacked leather heel--that way you can take it to your local cobbler and have them adjust the heel height for a more custom fit. Nothing worse than a work boot with a too high heel.

Hope this helps.

+1 If im gonna spend +$300 on boots they will be Alden. Check out thier wingtip boot, the captoe is my favorite.

I have always had bad luck with Wolverines in the past. I've owned two pair and both pair fell apart on me after about a year. I was working in the oil-field at the time. Well... in retrospect... the oil-field is a tough a** place to work so if they held up for a year out there, maybe a lifetime in the not so tough environments?

What do you think about Redwing for urban use (not necessarily dress)? I love the Iron Ranger. Can't decide on the reddish brown they sell directly, or the dark brown moleskin version being sold through J Crew. Both look awesome. I love the cap toe design. Very rugged looking, almost as if it were an army boot.
