Wise old adages

I thought a thread of old adages might be amusing. I'll start the ball rolling:

A keen tongue is no indication of a sharp mind.

It is better to keep your mouth closed and let people think you are a fool than to open it and remove all doubt. — Twain

You don't tug on Superman's cape
You don't spit into the wind
You don't pull the mask off the old Lone Ranger
And you don't mess around with Slim.

R.I.P. Jim Croce

When I was in the Air Force a guy from Texas told me,

"The worst thing they can do is kill ya ,but they can't eat ya. That's against the law".

Fool me once shame on you fool me twice I deserved it.

I like G.W. Bush's version..."There's an old saying in Tennessee — I know it's in Texas, probably in Tennessee — that says, fool me once, shame on — shame on you. Fool me — you can't get fooled again."

This one is credited to my boyfriend's Grandmother who lives in Texas...

CLC, "How do you feel today Grandma?"

SL "Well, it feels like somebody spit at me and missed and sh*t at me and hit!"

"There are only two ways to live your life. One is as though nothing is a miracle. The other is as though everything is a miracle."
