Williams haters unite!

Okay, so here's my proposal:

I was PIF'd a puck of vintage Williams, and it opened my eyes as to how good Williams used to be.

I've enjoyed using it, but I think the best thing is to try and share the experience with my fellow modern Williams haters in a soap pass-around. I'm sending the puck off to Michiganlover to start things off. He can then send it off to someone else to give it a whirl.

Not sure how to organize a pass around, so participants will just have to take responsibility when their turn comes along (to figure out who to send it to next)

Awesome!! I can't wait!! Vintage Williams was said to be an amazing soap!!

Probably the easiest thing to do, is to sign up in this thread. Handle this on a first come, first served basis, much like we have done with the "Big Box Travels".

So I send a PM to the first person to say "I'm in" for the address to send them the soap. They keep it for roughly a week, and then send it on to the next person.

Can I play along even if I haven't used modern Williams?

I'm quickly discovering that vintage soaps are very good.

great idea!

I'm already a believer in Old Soaps, so I'm not in... but participants are going to really really enjoy this. (and there go the prices...!)

very nice offer.

Say,I'd like to try the old Williams . I like the modern stuff....hope I don't get to like the old stuff more ! PM me when it's my turn?

Every time I read this thread title, I think of the Haters' Ball.

I just wanted to thank Jesus, for giving everybody else so much, and me sooooo little! I hate you! I hate you! I don't even know you, and I hate your guts! I hope all the bad things in life happen to you, you, and nobody else, but you!

You are on the list.

I have started a new thread in the PIF section of the board for the Vintage Williams Puck Pass, as it seems a more appropriate place for this.

New thread is here:

If you already signed up in this thread, I have you on the list in the new thread.

I bet that we will.

We have been having tons of fun with the "Vintage Williams Puck Pass".

We still have plenty of room for new sign-ups, so if you want to "taste and see how good Williams used to be", add your name to the Puck Pass sign up found here:

PIF: Vintage Williams Puck Pass

There is still a good amount of soap left in the original puck, and I am sure we can replenish when the supply runs low.

Lots of great fun to be had, SIGN UP TODAY!! :w00t::w00t:

What ingredients are listed for the vintage Williams mug shaving soap? I am most interested in how they compare to the current version of this soap. Thanks for the help.

It depends what era of Vintage Williams we are talking about. Really old soap wasn't required to list ingredients. I have a puck of Williams from 1975ish that has no ingredients listed. A puck a year or so newer did have the ingredients listed.

The current production soap lists tallow as the second ingredient. The vintage soaps that have the ingredients list show tallow as being the first ingredient.

I believe with Williams it went:

No ingredients

Then First as follows:

Tallow 70's
Sodium Tallowate 80's-2002
Sodium Stearate 2003+

Colgate is funnier. I have a 60's or 70's that lists the first ingredient as:

"Soap".
