Started using Wilkinson Sword blades the other day and I really like them because they never cut me and I can go atg unlike other blades but they don't cut that close. Wondering if there is a blade with the same comfort as the ws but one that will cut closer. Am I asking for a lot?

I have used WS black but then switched to Bolzano. Not sure if I can say closer shave but it was more comfortable for me. WS are now my second choice. Closer shave for sure were Feathers IMO.

I've had some good experiences with BlueBird blades and Gillette 7 O'Clock (yellow pack). Neither have cut me and they both shave really close, according to my experience. I've been using them in a Merkur 34c, but have also used these blades in an old Gillette flare tip -- the results were the same, a good close shave.

Jovan, I have two Feather blades and next time i'm off from work I will try them out. I have heard wonderful things about them yet i'm cautious of what might be the outcome. I will check out the other you and larryg suggested.

I had just narrowed my favorites down to Astra SPs and Polsilver SIs, when I discovered these last week:

Commonly known as the Lab Blues, make sure to get 100 of them, as the ones in the 5 blade white plastic dispensers are evidently inferior, older stock(although not a bad blade either). After a 3 pass shave the other day, I didn't need any touch up at all on my neck, and it was so close I really didn't need to shave yesterday. Also, these seem so comfortable that I had to check frequently to see if I was cutting any hair. I was using this blade in a Merkur Futur, and applying as close to zero pressure as I could get. I'm looking forward to trying them in a lighter razor.

OOPS!! This is a photo of the older style box. I just noticed the blade on the box has arrows printed on it. Order 100 of these from West Coast Shaving and make sure the blades don't have the arrows on them. Personna's packaging is screwed up.

Keep us posted. Another blade I found interesting in that it gave a close shave like the WS was BIC. I just felt IMO that the WS was more comfortable with the second and third day. I probably need to experitment more with them to give a fair judgement.

+ 1 on the Astras and Polsilvers mentioned above. These are two of my favorite blades. Both are smooth and sharp.

The WS blades I've been using are from a variety pack I bought and loved them so much that I bought a 100 blades. Afterwards I found out there are quite a few different WS blades. Not sure if the ones I ordered are different from the variety pack.

As long as they are made in Germany I believe they are all the same. They just use a lot of varieties of packaging. If you really like the WS another one that might be good to try is Timor. They seem to be a fair bit sharper but still extremely forgiving.
