What's new

Wife's first reaction to the Veg - "Meh...it's a bit girly" :)

With all the Love/Hate for the Veg, I could no longer resist. So, I opened the bottle today (as recommended..without smelling it first), and slapped some on. I did this a couple hours after I'd shaved, so not a test of it as an aftershave really, just the scent. It was certainly unique, sort of flowery, but nothing at all resembling cat pee. I've got three cats, I know :) . I let it dry down a bit, then had my wife take a sniff. She knew I got a new aftershave, but did not know what it was, or had any prior knowledge of the Veg.

Her immediate reaction was "smells flowery...(brief pause)...smells like lilac". Taking another wiff.... "smells like lilac soap....it's a bit girly though"

Myself...eh..it's certainly not bad. I don't love it or hate it at this point, which is probably weird. At this point, I guess I don't know whether I'm "chosen" or not. I'm leaning toward not, but I'll keep at it and see if it changes for me. If others (that smell it on me) think it's girly though.... I don't know.... it might be heading for a PIF. Or is being man enough to wear a girly scent the whole point? :001_tongu

My wife likes it, didn't mention anything about it smelling "girly" she just mentioned the lilac smell. I notice that throughout the day it seems to change in a good way. I'll catch a whiff of it several hours after putting it on and it's got a pleasant aroma.

So I pressed her at dinner for more details on the "girly" thing. She said "well...maybe not really girly...but just not masculine". So i guess we're somewhere in the androgynous zone :) . We'll see how it does after some time. Now after I wrote this post, some Special Reserve came in the mail (this was a banner day...two AS's and another razor). Now I really like that stuff.

Every person I have asked about the Lilac Vegetal when I wear it says pretty much the same thing. None of them think it smells very strong and everyone has liked it. I asked my friend about it last night and she thought it smelled really good. Personally I think it smells pretty close to Corn Huskers Lotion only a bit more floral, I like it.

I have been wearing the veg off and on for a while and always thought it smelled like powder and lilacs. I did detect some of the play-doh scent as well. It wasn't my favorite but I thought it was passable.

This morning I put some on right before my wife walked in and she asked, "Why does it smell like urine in here??" It took me a minute to figure it out. I think I'm done with the veg.

Oh well, I guess you were chosen for a little while.

Better to have loved and lost, right? ;)

Yikes, that hurts... I'll keep at it, to see how the long term picture develops. Certainly if my wife ever says that, we're done. :)

"Meh it's a bit girly" is a lot better than suggesting you smelled like you'd had a vacation at the Indianapolis Bus Station Men's Room.

The VEG is one of a small number that SWMBO does not use the word "stink" when she refers to it.

Win some, lose some. I think I liked the idea of the veg, more than the reality. That's ok. I'll finish the spring using Thayer's Lavaeder. Then it's on to summer: Proraso Pre/Post, Coral Skin Food, and Pinaud Bay Rum.

I haven't tried the bay rum yet. Does it fare better than the veg?
