Why do you like your blade?

I'm new to safety razor shaving. I notice that everyone has their favorites but I'm not sure why an individual likes a given blade. Is it the closeness, the feel, etc. So I would like to hear from you guys as to why you like your brand of blade.

It's a matter of finding the blade that gives the closest shave, with the most comfort.

The sharpest blade on the market won't neccesarily do that for everyone, and the experience of 'sharp(est)' is different for many people.

This pretty much sums it up, I like my Red IP's because they're comfortable, get BBS (Effortless now with my Red Tip) and can't beat the price.

cus iT cuts muh whisskrs.

But seriously, I guess it comes down to a balance of smoothness, sharpness, longevity, and price for me.

I suppose for me it's:
Smoothness
Sharpness
Price

I want the best of all but it's not always the case

The Gillette 7 O Clock (Russian greens)
Work really well for me they are sharp enough for my needs. Very smooth and the price is reasonable

This is a great question.

In order, I judge blades by how my face feels afterward, how smooth the shave feels as I am shaving, and last, by how close the shave is.

After 25 years of bad shaves, I am focused on avoiding pain and ugly neck redness foremost. With my dark hair, even a BBS shave looks basically the same as a less close, but more irritating shave.

This is exactly what I was hoping for. Smoothness, sharpness, longevity, price, etc., these are things I will be looking for as I try to find my own favorite blade.

+1 on IP Reds. They consistently give me close, comfortable shaves at a great price. Each one also lasts for 5-6 days.
