Why Didn't You Guys Tell Me I Was Missing Out On These?

I can't believe I've ignored shave sticks for so long. I've been using La Toja and Palmolive on and off lately, and I can't believe how great the lather is using shave sticks compared to loading the brush on the puck with other soaps. I always face lather, but using shave sticks is probably the best beard prep I've ever experienced. I see more shave sticks in my future. Speick, Harris, and hopefully Tabac.

How many shaves should one expect out of one of these by the way?

I use Palmolive today myself. Shave sticks are great. I think 60 - 80 shaves from a stick is pretty common.

I've been 3017 ing a stick of Valobra and it's a great soap. I've taken Irisch Moos and La Toja when I've travelled and used them and they are both great as well. I definitely prefer the larger stick of IM or Tabac with the holder. For me, it makes it much easier to load and rub on my face. Overall, I'm not a big fan of soaps in stick form. Not due to the soap, but the awkwardness of loading and holding the stick with slippery fingers and my big clumsey hands. They sure do make some great soaps in stick form though. Speick, Valobra, La Toja, Palmolive...... down the road I will probably be getting me some more Grundtals and grating these soaps so that I can use them in puck form.

The only stick I've tried is Arko, and I gotta say, I love it. I definitely see myself trying more sticks in the future!

I bought two Palmolive sticks a few weeks ago off B/S/T and I am trying one this weekend in advance of a trip next week. I plan on using the sticks in my travel kit.

I generally get 2-3 months of daily shaves from a stick (not all sticks are the same size).

Try Spieck (or Speick) stick. Absolutely awesome.
