Who owns a MUHLE R41

Just got mine, first shave...was nervous after all he hips, it is as they say, very aggressive.....but boy, what a shave, it's the closest I've ever had, 24 hrs later, still looks good, and my beard grows quickly, normally I would go and shave every day, I think this may be a every other day thing with this razor, superb..., what do you think?

Had a great shave last night with mine, i encourage people not to get scared from the hype/fear.

You just need to use a higher level of caution to get a great shave.

if you dont have one GET ONE!

I am still playing with mine and try to pair it with the best blade for it (and me). It is a keeper for sure but I do like more curving of the blade in a razor; the pré '09 R41/89 aka Fatip does a better job at that and despite its good looks I have the feeling the R41 will not surpass that one for me. I'll wait and see.

They say only a straight shave is closer. GREAT razor!!!

I'm not even sure I'd say that.
They are comparable, the R41 might even be closer simply because the DE is sharper than the str8 blade.
Also, on areas on the neck, particularly the chinstrap, adam's apple, and the jawline under the ears, the shorter head of the DE is more maneuverable and can more easily work a true ATG in areas where a str8 must be run XTG at best.

I love my str8s, but if I were forced to go back to a disposable blade, it would be loaded into my R41.

Love mine now, it was at first a hate relationship. It took many months of on off use before I learned the knack of shaving with it without cutting myself to pieces.

You will have to pry it from my cold dead hands. Absolutely love mine. It gets even better when you find your perfect blade match. Enjoy!

Could you get the same effect as this razor by adjusting the Fatboy to be more aggressive?

I think it's more than just the blade gap, which is all the adjustable change.
There's blade angle, exposure, of course gap, the comb design itself, and even the weight and balance.

Surprisingly, the old open-comb 2010 R41 was less aggressive than the R89.

I have been reading a lot of R41 threads. After a few beers last weekend I decided to see what all the fuss was about and ordered one from West Coast. I have a lot of experience with different types of DE razors (bad RAD and SWMBO doesn't care ). I have seen enough to know the R41 demands respect and a careful touch.

I installed a blade the day I received it and looked at the amount of exposure. To say the least it looks intimidating and appears to have almost double the blade exposure of a standard DE. I waited until this morning with two days of beard growth to try it. I was not fool enough to attempt to use the supplied Derby blade and went with an Astra blade and Proraso Green. I took it easy and managed not to cut/nick myself and was rewarded with the best two-pass DFS/near BBS shave I think I have ever had. This razor is going into rotation and may be the last razor I ever buy.

A hearty endorsement here for the Muhle R41
