Whittling

I know we've got plenty of knife nuts here, so surely we must have some whittlers. As the weather now seems to resemble something like what passes for summer in this country I've been thinking of trying my hand at it. I just bought a nice whittler style pocket knife and now need inspiration! So show off your knives and creations

Awesome topic! I got into whittling back in the day before children. Also before digital photography and internet forums. My claim to fame was completing a "ball in a box", I always wanted to do a few chain links. (sigh) Maybe when the world slows down for me. Sweet knife and bear Xander!

I have many pocket knives, my favorite for whittling is a Case Cigar Whittler, or small stockman. I also like Ken Helvie knives.

Wow, great stuff! I don't think I'll be able to manage anywhere near the quality of the examples posted so far. I was thinking of giving a bear a shot if I can get a decent chunk of wood from somewhere or a wood spirit if can only find sticks

A nice wood to carve is basswood, I think they call it limewood over there.

There is a museum near me called the Warther Museum that houses the works of Ernest Warther, who was a professional wood caver who did all of his carvings by hand with knifes he designed and made himself.
