Which Whey?

I just finished my EAS Whey Protein Powder and need to get more. I was going to just get the same thing but maybe I'll try something different. What do you guys like? Doesn't have to be Whey. Thanks.

Go for a whey isolate. I generally stick with whats cheap. They're all the same usually.

Better way to start off actually is: What do you take they whey for?

I find it helps me recover after a little faster after working out. Trying to increase the amount of protein in my diet while cutting back on carbs.

I use the Optimum Nutrition Gold Standard. 120 Calories and 24 Grams of Protein per serving, it mixes well with a blender bottle, and most of it tastes pretty good with just water.

Ahh good on ya. Also remember to eat/drink some carbs pwo. Refill your glycogen stores in your muscles.

Imo, Best bet would be a mix of Whey and Casein Protein if you can find it. Casein takes longer for your body to absorb giving the muscles protein for a longer period to absorb. Taking in too much Protein all at once is bad, the excess gets converted to carbs anyway.

Here in Aus I buy online, I save a lot.
I get unflavoured whey isolate. I usually add a spoon of milo or vanilla to it.
Get a good quality powder.

I'll second Optimum Nutrition. I've tried a heap of different protein powders over the years and this is not only the best tasting one (chocolate), but also the best mixing. It doesn't even need a shaker, you can just stir it and it dissolves.

From all of my years of training and taking supplements I will say that Biotest's Metabolic Drive protein is by far the best on the market and it tastes better than anything out there. I always go with chocolate:) The key to Biotest's great protein is the Micellar Casein. Met-rx used to use it in their old Metamyosyn meal replacements, but quit from the high cost and it was scarce. There's a nice write up about it in the column right next to "add to cart", you can't miss it.

Like I said, I've taken just everything on this planet for the last 15 years and I've never seen or felt the results like I did when on Biotest supplements(not just their protein, they offer a lot of great stuff). Check out t-nation.com too. Website is full of amazing articles written by some of the best strength training doctors, coaches(Chad Waterbury, Christian Thibaudeau, Jon Berardi to name a few). If you are looking for a recovery drink grab some of the Surge Recovery, it works miracles, I usually mix with about 8oz of grape juice and sip 1/2 serving during workout and 1/2 of serving directly after. Most of their stuff has a nice write up explaining recommended usage and documentation as to why the supplement works so well.

Some of the stuff is a bit more expensive and comes in a smaller container, but you really pay for quality when buying from Biotest. I stay away from big 5lb containers of the standard waste of money whey. Try it out for a month, you'll feel and see a difference, at least I have. Good Luck.

I like ON's "natural" chocoloate (no artificial flavors). Jarrow is good too, but second to ON because it is more expensive.

While all these suggestions are good. Whey is whey. Try a few smaller tubs to find what works best for you. If you can drink it w/o it upsetting your stomach then go for it. But it's kinda like selecting a razor blade not every brand is equal, but it doesn't mean it's not a good brand. Hell I love the chocolate isolate from Costco. Cheap, easy to mix, awesome for shakes, and has never fought with my stomach. I suggest isolate because it is filtered more and you're not drinking so much lactose. Look for something thats got almost no carbs and fats.

I like ON's "natural" chocoloate (no artificial flavors). Jarrow is good too, but second to ON because it is more expensive.

That's what I drink too. Its good stuff! Tastes great, no artificial flavors or colors. Sweetened with the stevia plant. Its not too expensive either. I buy mine at Vitacost.com five pound container for around $40.00.

However if you can afford it I have gotten the best results with AST VP2. Its around 34.00 for a 2 lb container. $$$ But it works really well.
