Col. Conk bay rum or almond against EJ sea buckethorn. This is my first soap so want something nice but inexpensive enuf that if i don't like it i'll just try another.

Can't go wrong with Conk as a first inexpensive soap. I think you'll be pleased. But do check out sites like Saint Charles Shave, The Gentleman's Quarterly, Mama Bears or Praire Creations before making the leap.
Their soaps are still inexpensive and WAY better than the mass produced soaps of Conks etc. Now, dont get me wrong, you can still get a good shave with Conk. But its just not the same!

Col. Conk is pretty cheap stuff. Personally I would get both a puck of that and the EJ sea buckhorn. That way if you don't like one, you have another soap to try.
Spend a few pesos more and start with the soap that all other soaps are measured against - Tabac! If you don't like it, you're almost assured to sell it on BST.

You took the thoughts right out of my head West Coast, Thanks for the input and opions guys. In my haste I purchased some poraso to test out til i can find some Tabac, how to find in Red Deer, might make road trip to Ed or Calgary, Any one know where to find in Alberta?

agreed. any of these grass roots soaps will out preform the above mentioned soaps not to mention some soaps that coast three times that!
Ej is very, very good soap. I was really impressed with the aloe vera.
