Which SE?

Well, I will probably wait until after Christmas so I can...y'know, get Christmas gifts for others first But, which GEM should I get? I want one with a metal handle, and if possible, not with a super long handle. Oh, something somewhat cheap, too I currently have a GEM Jr. with a Bakelite handle and it's cool, but I like the weight of the metal better.

Any of the 1912's that Cleave has listed HERE would be a good start. He's a great guy to deal with.

A 1912 is a great start, the 1924 may be a little aggressive for you. Of the Micro Matics the Open Comb is my favorite.

While the ER 1914 is the finest razor ever made according to ME, I think you can't go wrong with a 1912 or G-bar or a Flying Wing/Bullet Tip.

I would also suggest the G-Bar or Bullit Tip/ Flying Wing. Right now IM really getting some great shaves with my Push Button, one of my fovorites

Getting the one Cleave listed (the gold one). Anyone tell me how heavy they are and how long compared to say...a Super Speed or Tech?

The worst shave I've gotten recently was with the Gem Jr. fat bakelite handle razor...only mine says Star on it...but same-same. I used one of the group buy SS Gem blades and I got nicked up pretty bad. I was shocked. Not sure if it was the razor or blade...or both?

I dunno, I used mine today, and it didn't go so well. It seems like one day it's alright, one day it is HORRIBLE. Today it barely did anything except cut my face. I hate this razor sometimes Maybe that's why I had such displeasure for SEs...

I had a "different" shave with my GEM Jr. the other day. I used a fresh GEM SS like always but the shave was "eh" and one nick. I switched the blade to a 1912 today and got a BBS using the same soap/brush combo, go figure.
