What's new

Which is more rare Sheraton or senator

Does anybody know the production number for each... I see a lot more sheratons than senators on eBay... But strangely I own two of each...

I believe senators are more rare, with their case being extremely rare as it was made out of cardboard. There seems to be a lot more Sheratons around, but they can be hard to find in excellent condition due to their plating being so thin. I can't help with the production numbers though.

Regards.

The gold plated Sheraton was distributed in Christmas of 1937, it came in a nice Texol covered case. The nickel plated Senator was a cheaper value that came in a card board box that came out in 1938. These 2 razors were a cheaper alternative to the more costly Aristocrat razor from Gillette. They were a popular set but only made for few years til 1940 when Gillette unveiled the new Regent Tech razor line.

Senator by a wide margin. In my antiquing I've scored four Sheraton to one Senator in the wild. I would love to see a gold Senator that Alex points out. Wow, that would be a nice find.

The gold plated razor was the Sheraton not the Senator. The Senator was Nickel plated.

Very nice, thanks. Hopefully someday we will see some photos of real life examples of them, but so far my Internet searches have turned up nothing.

Here is an example today from eBay, the Senator sold for more than 2x the amount of the Sheraton which is plated in gold.

I got my Senator for $29.89 and my Sheraton for $37.66. Both are user grade. All teeth are straight and everything works as it should. I felt like I was not patient enough on the Sheraton and over paid.

I believe the Senator to be more rare. Personal experience is three to one Sheraton to Senator in the wild. I have no idea how that correlates to actual production numbers if at all.

Actually sounds like a good deal to me... And a very good deal on the senator

Well I guess case in point... Just picked up a Sheraton for 22 dollars from the bay... Is it me or are their prices going down

Did you read the question (mine) and the answer? It will probably work fine, if a bit different. It may also be easy to fix so it works like normal, not sure. Once you get the blade in it and close it you should be fine.
