What's new

which DE gillette is this?

it has K2 on bottom. this was my dads i remember him using it when i was young.. im 35 now.. so when my family and i went to visit my mom and dad. i went into the bathroom open the top drawer on the sink and long behold in the back was this razor, same place i remember it back when i lived at home 18-19 years ago.. he also had some older gillette carts. as well.. but i ask him if i could have it, but he said thats is the best razor he has ever had.. he gave me some pointers and told me to enjoy it because he did.. but my dad and I arent very close but due to his DE razor we actually had something to talk about and bond over.. felt good.. so is this a fatboy, slim neither and what are these worth.. cause i told him they actually go for a decent amount, and he didnt believe me so i would like to tell him what there actually worth.. thanks

The knurling style on the handle shows it to be a Slim Adjust. The Fatboy was also not made with a date code of K2, besides having a different style/pattern of knurling. I'm agreeing with Timothy completely, 1965 Gillette Slim.

...and the superspeed is not an adjustable, the slim (pictured) is.

also, you may like to note that it is against the rules of this forum to request the value of a razor (see rule 7 - http://wiki.badgerandblade.com/Terms_Of_Usage). I recommend you have a look at the BST or one of the online auction sites to get an estimate of its value. plenty of these get bought and sold so it won't be hard for you to get a rough idea in a few minutes.

edit: here's a link to the Wiki which may assist with identification => http://wiki.badgerandblade.com/Safety_razors

I have a '66 Slim. Fantastic razor, amazing shave. Enjoy it. I wish my father / grandfather passed down a heirloom razor to me.

Anyone have any idea what it's worth? I have one I'd the same.

OP...congrats on the great razor and finding something to bond with your Dad over. I understand what it's like to have a strained relationship with your Dad. Off and on over the years my Dad and I have had good times and bad, but since my Mom passed 7 years ago it's been more on the strained side. I always felt that I could never live up to his expectations, regardless of what I achieved. My Mom was always the intermediary and kept things on an even keel.

Best wishes on building something with your Dad. Even small victories are significant, remember that.

I also wish I had an heirloom razor but I don't think there are any to be found. My grandfather was an electric razor shaver for as long as I can remember, and my dad I recall using an old school Gillette but he looked around and couldn't find it. To those of you who get razors handed down that's awesome!

My father tried finding his for me as well but couldn't find any. He had one belonging to my grandfather as well but no sign of anything.
